- The United Church of Canada, Canada's largest Protestant denomination, was formed on June 10, 1925, through the union of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, the Methodist Church (Canada, Newfoundland and Bermuda), the Congregational Churches of Canada, and the General Council of Local Union Churches. This union was a landmark event, being the first of its kind to cross historical denominational lines and receive international acclaim.
